ねこは夏休みの宿題にトマトの観察をしなくてはいけません。水やりも観察も忘れがちです。
夏休みが始まって2週間くらいたったある日。
私:「ねこ、そういえばトマトの観察してないけど大丈夫？」
ねこ:「うん、大丈夫。”トマト”って調べればいいから！」
私は少しの間、どういう意味か考えてから気がついた。インターネットで調べるつもりだ！
賢いアイデアだなと思ったが、親としては、ちゃんと実物で観察させようと思います(^-^;
Neko has to observe tomatoes as her summer homework assignment. She tends to forget about watering and observing.
One day, about 2 weeks into the summer vacation:
Me: “Neko, by the way, is it ok that you aren’t observing your tomatoes?”
Neko: “Sure, it’s ok, I can just look up “tomato”! “
After wondering for a while what she meant by that, I realized that she was planning to look it up on the internet.
Although I think it’s a clever idea, as a parent, I feel I have to get her to observe them for real.

Kids in Japan don’t get to relax all summer, they have to do all sorts of homework assignments, including helping their parents around the house, writing reports about what they did all summer and practicing calligraphy.
