新潟県にいがたけんの越後平野えちごへいや周辺しゅうへんは日本一にほんいちの米こめどころと言いわれていて、コシヒカリという品種ひんしゅを主おもに作つくっています。

日本一にほんいち長ながい信濃川しなのがわは、長ながさ367kmです。

新潟県にいがたけんは、冬ふゆは雪ゆきがたくさん降ふります。小千谷市おぢやしというところでは、小千谷おぢや縮ちぢみという織物おりものを雪ゆきにさらして漂白ひょうはくします。

佐渡島さどがしまには日本最大にほんさいだいだった佐渡さど金山きんざんがあります。佐渡さどでは、トキも有名ゆうめいです。

燕市つばめし、三条市さんじょうしでは、金属きんぞくの食器しょっきや刃物はものの生産せいさんがさかんです。

Echigoheiya area in Niigata prefecture is the most famous place for rice in all of Japan. Especially the production of Koshihikari rice is well known.

The longest river of Japan, Shinanogawa, flows through this prefecture.

In the winter, Niigata sees a lot of snow. There is a city called Odiyashi, which is known for it’s so called Odiyachijimi. This is the practice of bleaching textile by exposing it to snow.

The island of Sadogashima is home to Sadokinzan, once the largest gold mine of Japan. Sado is also famous for the Toki, or Japanese crested ibis.

The cities of Tsubameshi and Sanjoushi are renowned for the production of metal tableware and kitchen knives.
