Yamanashi Prefecture【山梨県】

山梨県やまなしけんは、日本一にほんいち高たかい富士ふじ山さんがまたがっており、高たかさ第だい二位にいの北岳きただけもあって、山やまに囲かこまれた海うみのない県けんです。

フルーツの生産せいさんがさかんで、桃ももやぶどうが日本一にほんいちです。国産こくさんのブドウを使つかってワインや果実酒かじつしゅも作つくられています。

吉田よしだの火ひ祭まつりという祭まつりが毎年まいとし８月がつの２６・２７日にちにあって、町中まちじゅうにたいまつの火ひを灯ともして、富士ふじ登山とざんのシーズンが無事ぶじに終おわったことを神かみに感謝かんしゃします。

手彫てぼりのはんこも有名ゆうめいで、水晶すいしょうや水牛すいぎゅうの角つの、柘植つげの木きなどを彫ほって、ほぼ手作業てさぎょうでつくられています。

The highest mountain in Japan, Mount Fuji, straddles Yamashi prefecture and Shizuoka prefecture. Yamashi is a landlocked prefecture, also home to the second highest mountain, named Kitadake.

This prefecture produces a lot of fruits, and is number one in Japan for peaches and grapes. The grapes and other fruits grown here are used to make domestic wine, and various fruit wines.

Every year on the 26th and 27th of August, a festival called Yoshida Fire Festival is held. On this occasion, people light torches all throughout the city to thank the Gods for the safe ending of the climbing season on mount Fuji.

Another local product the prefecture is known for is the hand-carved stamp. They are made mostly by hand, from carved crystal, buffalo horn and buxus wood.
